Crestron Interface at Custom Home in Bermuda

The FieldServer can be found in applications ranging from a multi-building campus-wide network to a single custom luxury home.  Environment Technology Center, located in East Boston, MA was awarded a contract to install a state-of-the-art Crestron control system in a 13,500 square foot luxury custom house in Bermuda.  the original scope of work included Crestron system interfaces for audio/video, lighting control, security/fire, motorized window treatments, turbine generator, and e-control for CCTV, Weather station, and information management.

The original scope of work did not request control of a Mitsubishi multi-HVAC system because it included an integral LonWorks whole house controller.  Bruce Shulman of Environmental Technology said, "Due to change in the original scope of work we were suddenly faced with an HVAC system that could not interface to our Crestron system."  Crestron control of the HVAC became necessary when the owner requested that thermostats not be used in any of the 29 HVAC zones.  Other than the single Mitsubishi controller in the basement, there would be no way for the residents to adjust modes or set points locally unless there could be a way found to interface to each of the 29 Crestron LCD touch screens.  According to Mitsubishi, there was no interface available at the time.

"FieldServer Technologies and their commissioning engineers at Master Thermal and MDCI came to our rescue with an easy solution to the problem,." according to Mr. Shulman.  Environmental Technology used the FS-B2011 gateway to solve this potential problem interfacing from Modbus to LonWorks.  FieldServer Technologies team of commissioning engineers from Master Thermal Systems and MDCI worked with Environmental Technology Center engineers and certified installers from Crestron to commission the system and having all interfaces working properly in time.
